Seven Ways Dr. Khemlani Can Help

Open any service for a plain-language explanation, so you know what to expect before you book.

Antenatal (prenatal) care is the series of check-ups you have during pregnancy to protect your health and your baby's. Visits track your baby's growth, monitor your general health and give you time to ask questions.

What to expect

  • A first visit to review your medical history and talk through your due date
  • Routine checks such as blood pressure, weight and your baby's growth
  • Guidance on nutrition, common symptoms and preparing for birth
  • Advice on when to call the office or seek urgent care

Book as early as you can once you know you're pregnant. If you have a medical condition or a past complicated pregnancy, mention it when you book.

Dr. Khemlani delivers babies both vaginally and by caesarean section (C-section). The right choice depends on your health, your baby's position and wellbeing, and any complications, and it is discussed with you well before your due date.

What to expect

  • A conversation about your options and preferences before your due date
  • Careful monitoring of you and your baby during labour
  • A caesarean section if it is planned, or if it becomes the safest option
  • A check on your recovery after the birth

Your birth plan can change on the day. Having the conversation early helps you feel prepared for either route.

An obstetric ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of your baby, the placenta and the fluid around your baby. It does not use radiation and is a standard part of pregnancy care.

What to expect

  • Dating your pregnancy and confirming your due date
  • Checking your baby's growth, heartbeat and position
  • Reviewing your baby's development at the right stage of pregnancy
  • Usually painless; the office will tell you how to prepare

An ultrasound is a monitoring tool. If something needs a closer look, Dr. Khemlani will explain the next steps.

A conversation about the contraceptive options available, how well each works, how it is used and any side effects, so you can choose the method that suits your health, lifestyle and plans for the future.

What to expect

  • Questions about your health history and what matters most to you
  • Information on options such as pills, injections, implants, IUDs and barrier methods
  • Time to ask questions, with no pressure to decide on the day
  • Advice on switching methods or stopping when you are ready

Come in before starting a method, when you want to switch, or while planning a pregnancy.

Gynaecological care looks after the health of your reproductive system. It includes assessing and managing concerns such as heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain and uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths in the uterus.

What to expect

  • A conversation about your symptoms, cycle and history
  • An examination and, if needed, tests such as an ultrasound
  • A plan that may include monitoring, medication or a procedure, explained so you can decide
  • Ongoing check-ups for long-term concerns

Persistent pain, very heavy bleeding or bleeding between periods is worth getting checked rather than waiting.

A Pap smear screens the cervix for cell changes. An abnormal result does not mean you have cancer; it means the cells need a closer look. Dr. Khemlani offers procedures for abnormal pap smears and for precancerous cells of the cervix.

What to expect

  • A review of your result and what it means
  • A closer examination of the cervix if needed
  • If treatment is needed, a procedure to treat abnormal cells, explained beforehand
  • Follow-up screening to check the changes have cleared

Regular screening catches changes early. Bring a copy of your last result if you have one.

The O-Shot uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) prepared from a small sample of your own blood. It is offered by some providers for concerns such as sexual function or urinary leakage. Dr. Khemlani is a certified O-Shot provider.

What to expect

  • A private consultation about your concerns and goals
  • A discussion of who the procedure may suit, and who it may not
  • A realistic conversation about benefits and risks, as research is still limited
  • If you go ahead, an explanation of exactly what the procedure involves

Results vary from person to person and the procedure is not suitable for everyone, so the consultation comes first.
